the definition of:   Hypnosis is the human condition of trance where the conscious and sub-conscious minds come together in focus and can be influenced by a Hypnotist by suggestion. It is important to know that the person in trance cannot be instructed against their will.

We enter trance many times a day, when we are concentrating on one thing, perhaps reading a book or walking in nature, at the gym or driving a regular route. The state of creative problem solving and an openness to suggestion which occurs at this time can be harnessed by a trained therapist to encourage positive change or indeed by an experienced entertainer to act in a way that entertains an audience!
